The Objection

God was apparently done with all of that so He allowed the Temple to be destroyed and it hasn't been rebuilt in 2,000 years.

The Response

When objectors present this idea, they don't provide any Scripture to back it up.

First, such an objection suggests that G-d changed His mind about that whole "Mosaic Law" thing.  But, according to Malachi 3:6, G-d never changes:

For I, the Lord, do not change; therefore you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed.  (Malachi 3:6)

Second, such a claim makes G-d out to be a liar.  He remembers His covenant forever:

He has remembered His covenant forever, The word which He commanded to a thousand generations...  (Psalm 105:8)

And to be clear, the only covenant with commandments established throughout "a thousand generations" is the Sinai covenant (Exodus 16:32, Leviticus 7:36, Numbers 15:23, etc.).

Figuratively speaking, a thousand generations is forever.  However, if we take that thousand generations literally, we are talking about 40,000 years... 20,000 at a minimum.

You'd think if G-d wanted it to end in 70 AD, then He would have commanded it for only 40 generations.

No, this is not something about which G-d has changed His mind.
