The Hebrew Word
עֵקֶב [ekev -Strong's #6118] means "a heel" (as the rear part of a foot) and figuratively means "the last of" something. The implication is one of "consequence", "result", or "reward". It is used only 14 times in 14 verses in the Tanakh.

The first time ekev is used in Scripture is in Genesis 22.
"In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, [as a reward] because you have obeyed My voice." (Genesis 22:18)
Last use in Scripture
The last time ekev is used in Scripture is in Amos 4.
