c 487 BCE- The Israelites under Nehemiah cried out to G-d and made a new covenant with Him. They cried out to Him to give them power over the yetzer hara [evil inclination] of avoda zara [idolatry] so they would no longer commit idolatry.  (Nehemiah 9)
