Chapter Outline
Paul wrote this second letter to his apprentice, Timothy, near the end of his life as he awaited execution by the Romans. Even amid his own trials, persecution, and abandonment, Paul reached out to Timothy to encourage him to continue his work with confidence, fortitude, and faithfulness. Paul encourages Timothy to remain faithful to the words of Scripture that are profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness "so that the man of G-d may be adequate, equipped for every good work." Paul sets forth additional instructions for order within the community. He closes with words of affirmation that G-d will rescue Paul from every evil deed and bring him safely into His heavenly kingdom.
